German Man Travels the World Without Money or Planes

August 6, 2025

A young man from Germany is traveling around the world in a very unique way — without money and without using airplanes.

The traveler, known online as Tilo The Pilgrim, began his journey after finishing high school. He wasn’t sure what to do next in life, so he decided to travel the world at least once. But he gave himself two big challenges: not to use any money and not to fly in any planes.

Tilo started his journey in Germany and walked or hitchhiked to France, then Spain. From there, his journey became even more exciting. He began filming and sharing his travels on TikTok under the name @tilothepilgrim and on YouTube, where many people around the world now follow his story.

After Spain, Tilo crossed the Atlantic Ocean by boat and arrived in Trinidad and Tobago, a small island country in the Caribbean. He then went to Grenada, spending about a month in each country to learn about the culture and meet local people.

From Grenada, Tilo found a ride on a cargo ship and traveled to Guyana in South America. He stayed in Guyana for over a month and quickly became popular there. Many people in Guyana followed him online and welcomed him. He used his platform to support local businesses by sharing their work with his growing audience.

In a Guyana Chronicle article, Tilo shared his experiences of kindness, hospitality, and the challenges of traveling without money.

Now, Tilo has moved on to Brazil, continuing his mission to explore the world slowly, kindly, and with purpose.

His journey shows that travel isn’t always about money or comfort — it can also be about adventure, learning, and connecting with people around the world.
