Queens Man Arrested After Alleged Domestic Assault in North Lawrence

North Lawrence, NY - A 38-year-old Queens resident was arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident at a home in North Lawrence, Long Island, authorities said.

Wikash Sant, who is believed to be from Suriname, was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m.

According to police reports, Sant became involved in an argument with a 43-year-old woman inside a residence on Rockaway Boulevard. Authorities allege that the dispute escalated into a physical confrontation.

Sant is accused of punching the woman in the face, choking her and threatening to kill her. Police also allege that he took the woman’s phone to prevent her from calling 911.

The woman was eventually able to escape the residence on foot.

Sant was arrested by members of the Nassau County Police Department’s Fourth Squad. He was charged with robbery, assault, criminal mischief and criminal obstruction of breathing.

The robbery charge was connected to the allegation that Sant took the victim’s phone to prevent her from contacting emergency services.

The charges are accusations, and Sant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
